BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A man was rescued after his car crashed into Middle St. Vrain Creek Monday morning. The 81-year-old driver was seriously injured, the Boulder County Sheriff's office said.

The man's vehicle veered off the road in the 22500 block of S. St. Vrain in unincorporated Boulder County, authorities said. The sheriff's office and other agencies responded to the crash just before 11 a.m.

The car was in fast-moving water, which made the rescue difficult, the sheriff's office said. Several cables were attached to the vehicle to prevent it from rolling further downstream.
