Crews Spend 8 Hours Rescuing Climbers From Eldorado Canyon Park
Two climbers reached the top of Redgarden Wall at dusk without headlamps, and didn't know the descent route, Boulder County officials said.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is reminding outdoor enthusiasts to make sure they have the correct equipment and to plan their excursions properly. The reminder was issued after crews spent eight hours Sunday and Monday rescuing two climbers from the top of Redgarden Wall in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
The pair started climbing the Anthill Direct route around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. They reached the top of the climb near dusk, and "without headlamps and not being familiar with the descent route, spent time looking for a way down," the sheriff's office said. The climbers then decided to call 911 at 8:20 p.m.
Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group ascended the East Slabs and found the climbers near the top, officials said. The group gave the climbers warm clothing and headlamps and then helped them down the East Slabs to the trailhead.
