BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Crews spent five hours rescuing a hiker who fell from a rock face above Boulder Falls Sunday evening, officials said.

The 21-year-old Ohio man was climbing down a rock face with his friend, and neither had technical climbing gear, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. The man lost his footing and fell 25 feet to the ground.

His friend was able to get help from other hikers, who helped to stabilize him, officials said. Some other hikers drove down Boulder Canyon to call 911, and led rescuers to the 21-year-old.
