Hiker Severely Injured In Fall Above Chautauqua Park
A 22-year-old hiker was injured in a fall near the First and Second Flatiron trails, Boulder County officials said.

BOULDER, CO — A man suffered severe injuries in a fall Monday morning near the Flatiron trails above Boulder, officials said. The 22-year-old hiker was from Pennsylvania, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
Another hiker saw the man near the First and Second Flatiron trails and called 911.
"The patient was not fully able to describe what had happened to him," the sheriff's office said.

Boulder park rangers and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group members hiked to the patient, performed first aid, and then carried him out. As the patient was being carried to the ambulance, "he was in and out of consciousness," the sheriff's office said. He was taken to a local hospital.

The rescue took just under one hour, officials said.
American Medical Response and the City of Boulder Fire Department also helped with the rescue.
As of Tuesday morning, the patient's condition was not known.
