BOULDER COUNTY, CO — Amid dozens of store closures, Lucky's Market has confirmed that seven stores will remain open. Stores in Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Florida and Colorado will not close, the chain said.

The stores that are set to close will do so over the next few weeks.

The store closures were announced after Kroger said it would sell off its stake in the chain. Kroger said its investment in Lucky's led to a $107 million net loss. Lucky's Market is searching for a new buyer to replace Kroger.

The company will be offering discounts in the stores that will close.

Lucky's Market, which was founded in Boulder in 2003 by Bo and Trish Sharon, was partially-owned by the Krogers supermarket chain beginning in 2016 — the same year Lucky's began its expansion into Florida.

The Florida closures will impact around 2,500 employees.

The chain has also halted plans to open a store in Denver's Lowry neighborhood. The new store was slated to be built as part of the Boulevard One project, on South Quebec Street and East First Avenue.
