Missing Longmont Man Found Dead In South St. Vrain Canyon
The body of a missing 28-year-old Longmont man was found Wednesday, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.

BOULDER COUNTY, CO — A missing 28-year-old Longmont man was found dead Wednesday in South St. Vrain Canyon, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. No foul play is suspected, authorities said.
Deputies were called to the canyon just after 10 p.m. Tuesday after the man went missing. His vehicle was believed to be in the area.
Deputies were able to find the vehicle in the 25,000 block of South St. Vrain Drive, but they could not find the 28-year-old in the dark.

Search crews began looking for the man just after 7 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff's office said. Rescuers used a sheriff's bloodhound to assist with the search.

The search crews found a body in a drainage basin around 8:45 a.m., about 1/8 mile north of the vehicle.
A preliminary investigation suggests the man suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
The man's body had to be removed by a littered technical rescue, which was undertaken by the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, authorities said.
The man's death remains under investigation. The Boulder County Coroner's Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of the man's death, as well as confirming the man's identity.
