Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:
- The Colorado Springs' area Care and Share Food Bank has named a new CEO. Nathan Springer will lead the food bank starting in July. Springer has over 23 years of executive leadership experience. The Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado operates 273 food pantries and meal programs for area residents across 31 counties. (FOX21News.com)
- The Colorado Springs School District 11 could cut more than 50 teaching positions if a reduced budget is passed. The cuts are due to declining enrollment within the district, according to a message that was sent to district families. District spokeswoman Devra Ashby assures the community that the budget has not been finalized yet. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
- Colorado Springs Fire Department crews have extinguished an outside fire near a southeast neighborhood. The crews responded to the 3600 block of El Morro Rd. to battle the blaze that thankfully did not impact any nearby homes. The department has not determined the cause of the fire. (KRDO)
