Learn everything happening near you with the Colorado Springs Daily.

Happy Wednesday, Colorado Springs! Let's start today off on an informed note, shall we? Here's everything worth knowing today in town.

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m.. High: 77 Low: 50.

Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. Home values in Colorado Springs have dropped after reaching new highs over the summer. Data from the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors shows the median price of a home in September was $440,000, down from $450,000 in August. Houses sat on the market for a little longer than they did during the summer, averaging about 12 days on the market. This trend is also being seen in Denver. (Colorado Public Radio)
  2. A new social media challenge is making the rounds among students -- and police have a warning for any child thinking about participating. The TikTok challenge involves slapping a teacher or other school staff member, then running away before getting caught. The 'Slap a Teacher' challenge hasn't arrived in southern Colorado yet, and it's important parents are aware before it does. Because regardless of their age, regardless of why they are doing it, Springs police are very clear: slapping someone for social media is not a harmless prank, it's a crime. (KKTV 11 News)
  3. Colorado Springs Police are looking for the suspect involved in a deadly shooting outside Arbor Pointe Apartments on Monday. Police say they know the victim's identity but will wait to release his name until his family is notified. (KRDO)
  4. On Tuesday, two people were injured in a rollover car crash on Garden of the Gods Road, which snarled traffic for hours. (KKTV 11 News)
  5. A recent cocktail event called "Fueling Freedom," hosted by Colorado Springs Northpointe Bank at Peak City Church, raised $23,000 to support The Exodus Road's effort to end human trafficking. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
