'Hottest Zip Code Of 2021' + Nonprofit Raises $68k For LGBTQ+

Here are the top stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. An eastern Colorado Springs zip code was ranked number one in the country for the 2021 housing market. Zip code 80916 was ranked "The Hottest Zip Code of 2021" in the study from Realtor.com. The median listing price for a home in that eastern Colorado Springs zip code is $318,000 with a median of four days on the market. According to Realtor.com, the No. 2 spot in the country went to West Irondequoit, New York; No. 3 was Peabody, Massachusetts; No. 4 was Manchester, New Hampshire; and No. 5 was Brentwood, North Carolina.   2. Inside Out, a local non-profit is on a mission to support LGBTQ+ young people in Southern Colorado. The "Ally-Up" fundraiser is an event the non-profit hosts every year to raise funds. The theme this year was access, equity, and power. This virtual event included testimonials from young people whose lives have been changed - and even saved - by Inside Out's services. The agency was able to raise over $68,000 during the fundraiser. Their goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of the year. (KOAA.com Colorado Springs and Pueblo News)
  3. The adult male inmate at the El Paso County Jail who was found unresponsive during a routine welfare check has been identified as William Johnson, 36. The El Paso County Coroner's Office will conduct a full autopsy to make an official determination as to the cause of death. (epcsheriffsoffice.com)
  4. Michael Garman, a local sculptor who came to Colorado Springs and whose art gallery has been a fixture in Old Colorado City for decades, has died at 83. (KOAA.com Colorado Springs and Pueblo News)
  5. The most recent data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) shows that 92% of ICU hospital beds in the state are full. (KRDO)
