Here are the top stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. Starting next week, the road from North Cheyenne Cañon Park's main entrance to the Helen Hunt Falls parking lot is expected to be closed to drivers, hikers, and cyclists from Sept. 27 through the end of May. Access will remain for emergency vehicles. Other drivers will be able to enter the park from the back side, from the dirt Gold Camp Road to the newly paved parking lot at the top of the canyon. Trails will remain open, including below the parking lot at Helen Hunt Falls and the upper Columbine Trail near there. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
  2. Crews continue to make excellent progress renovating Panorama Park, located in southeast Colorado Springs. The latest installations are an 11-foot-tall climbing boulder designed by local youth, and a key piece of the water feature that will be the focal point of the park's redesigned entry plaza. Crews broke ground on Panorama, the largest neighborhood park renovation in city history, on May 8, 2021 and work is expected to be complete in the summer of 2022. (Press Release Desk)
  3. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office needs help with finding a person of interest after a shooting that happened Saturday at Widefield High School. (KRDO)
  4. An assistant soccer coach for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's soccer team, has been arrested on the charges of sexual assault and booked into El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. (FOX21News.com)
  5. A Colorado Springs family wins a Florida candy factory in a nationwide treasure hunt organized by "Candy Man" David Klein, the creator of Jelly Belly candy. (KRDO)
