Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:
- A new quarter design honoring astronaut Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, was unveiled at the Colorado Springs Space Symposium. The design was unveiled by representatives of the U.S. Mint. Ride's design is part of an ongoing series meant to recognize women called the American Women Quarters Program. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
- Plans for a new amphitheater that will be able to seat 8,000 have been announced by Notes Live. The Colorado Springs amphitheater will cost roughly $40 million and will be built on the Polaris Pointe development. It will reportedly feature 60 different VIP luxury fire pit suites and multiple high-quality restaurants. (Colorado Springs Patch)
- The El Paso County Public Health Department is working to fill an open position. The board is hoping to fill a representative role that will interact with nonprofit, private, and public education sectors. Kari Kilroy held the position before being term-limited. (Colorado Springs Independent)
