Driver cited after vehicle collides with moving train Tuesday (koaa.com) — Two people escaped injury after a vehicle failed to yield and was struck by a moving train Tuesday afternoon at the railroad crossing on East Fillmore Street in Colorado Springs, according to CSPD. Police say the crossing lights and warning bell were working, and the driver was cited for not properly yielding to the train.
   

2. Life-saving lung cancer technology at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central (fox21news.com) — UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs is now using Ion Robotic Bronchoscopy, a high-precision tool that can find and biopsy tiny lung nodules with about 95% accuracy. Doctors say this technology helps catch lung cancer at much earlier stages, and one local patient avoided chemotherapy and quickly returned to an active lifestyle after an early-stage diagnosis.
   

3. UCCS Early Childhood Education Bootcamp helps aspiring child care providers navigate opening a center (koaa.com) — If you've ever thought about opening a child care center in Colorado Springs, UCCS now offers a flexible Early Childhood Education Bootcamp that walks you through licensing, paperwork, and business basics. The program responds to a major local shortage, with only 18,000 child care spots for about 47,000 young children in the Pikes Peak region, and includes help finding grants and cost reductions.
   

4. Looking to rent? A Colorado Springs economist says now is the time (kktv.com) — Renters in Colorado Springs currently have the upper hand, with plenty of vacant properties pushing landlords to lower prices and offer incentives, even on single-family homes. A UCCS economist and a Colorado Springs property management firm say it's a true renter's market, encouraging locals to shop around, negotiate, and even leverage cheaper options elsewhere when renewing leases.
   

5. PHOTOS: Critically endangered Amur leopard born at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo gets a name (krdo.com) — Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs has officially named its critically endangered Amur leopard cub Sila, a Russian word meaning "strength." Born in May, Sila is now venturing outdoors with her mother Anya, offering Springs residents a rare chance to see one of the world's rarest big cats as the zoo supports global conservation efforts.
