Annual fallen firefighter observance expected to draw thousands to Colorado Springs (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs will host thousands of firefighters and families Saturday for the International Association of Fire Fighters' Fallen Fire Fighter memorial at Memorial Park, honoring 288 fallen, including local Capt. Patrick Rogacki. Residents can expect a morning ceremony, a downtown bagpipe parade, and a solemn evening march down Tejon Street as the city becomes a national gathering place for remembrance.

Carlos' Bistro owner found guilty of sexually assaulting waitress trainee (gazette.com) — A Colorado Springs jury has convicted Carlos' Bistro owner Carlos Echeandia of sexually assaulting a woman he was training for a waitress job at his award-winning local restaurant. He remains free on bond under new restrictions until his December sentencing, while the future of the popular bistro is still uncertain for Colorado Springs diners and employees.
   

4. Colorado Springs proposes restoring pay for Nov. 25 furlough day (thebadger.news) — Colorado Springs leaders are weighing a proposal to cancel the planned Nov. 25 furlough day for eligible city employees by using about $380,700 in higher-than-expected 2026 revenues. The change, which still needs City Council and mayoral approval, would restore a day of pay across departments including Police, Public Works, Parks, and others just before Thanksgiving.
   

5. Colorado Springs considers new net-metering options for solar customers (thebadger.news) — Colorado Springs Utilities is proposing new net-metering options that could raise the average residential solar customer's bill by about $38 a month starting April 1, 2027, if City Council gives final approval. The plan keeps one-to-one energy credits but adds daily access charges and demand-based billing, while most existing customers could stay on current rates until 2032.
