🌱 Pikes Peak Greenway Trail Project Update + Pedestrian Fatality

Here are the top three stories in Colorado Springs today:

  1. Phase 1 of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail improvement project is opening earlier than expected. The improved trail section between the I-25 overpass and Rockrimmon Boulevard opens this weekend. The project has replaced asphalt with a more durable concrete surface while replacing damaged bridge decking and improving drainage. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The Colorado Springs Police Department reported the first deadly auto-pedestrian crash of the year. The incident occurred near a major Interstate 25 intersection. Last year, fifteen people were killed while crossing streets in Colorado Springs. (Colorado Springs Gazette)
  3. The Colorado Springs Police Department is searching for a woman who may be connected in a case involving a juvenile recruited into sex work. According to the department, the woman tried to recruit an East Woodman Road department store's juvenile female employee into sex work. The department has released security camera photos to the public and is asking anyone with information to contact the Metro Vice Unit. (KRDO)
