• Driver killed in Commerce City crash with pickup truck, semitrailer (denverpost.com) — A driver was killed overnight in a Commerce City crash on Colorado 2 at East 96th Avenue, where a pickup reportedly hit the back of a semitrailer. Northbound Colorado 2 was closed for hours during the investigation but appeared reopened by early morning, and police have not yet released further details.
   

• Colorado is creating new regulations for the only petroleum refinery in the state (tsscolorado.com) — State regulators are drafting first-of-their-kind rules aimed squarely at Suncor's Commerce City refinery, potentially tightening emissions controls, flaring practices, and community notification when problems occur. With about 500 local jobs and major fuel supplies at stake, residents, former city officials, and environmental advocates are pressing for stronger protections while the state balances health concerns with economic impacts ahead of a May vote.
   

• Rapids Academy midfielder Sebastian Siegler called up to Australian U-17 Men's National Team (coloradorapids.com) — A Rapids Academy midfielder based in Commerce City, 17-year-old Sebastian Siegler, has been called up to Australia's U-17 national team for the Copa España 2026. Since arriving in Colorado, he's split time between the Rapids U-18s and Rapids 2, logging 860 professional minutes and starting the club's last seven matches.
