Uber Shooting: District Attorney Gets Delay In Charging Driver
An online fund to help pay for the accused shooter's legal defense has been turned off and donations refunded.

DENVER, CO – The Denver County District Attorney's office on Tuesday received a 24-hour extension to prepare a case to file charges against Michael A. Hancock, 29, an Uber driver who allegedly shot and killed his passenger early last Friday morning.
"Today we filed for and received 24 hour extension of time to consider filing of charges," said Ken Lane, a spokesman for the Denver CountyDistrict Attorney's office, in an email. "Not terribly unusual."
Hancock, of Aurora, is being held in the Denver jail without bail after the incident that left his passenger Hyun Kim, 45, of Englewood, dead.

Hancock was arrested Friday after allegedly firing at least 10 rounds from a Ruger handgun. Passenger Kim was found in the front seat of Hancock's Nissan sedan with multiple gunshot wounds.
Hancock told a man who stopped to help that "his ride tried to attack him and [Hancock] shot him," according to an arrest affidavit. Police recovered a semi-automatic two-tone Ruger pistol from Hancock's right waist band, according to the affidavit. Officers on the scene found 10 shell casings and a trail of blood on the roadway.

A police spokesman confirmed that both the driver and the wounded man were taken to hospitals. Kim was pronounced dead at the hospital. KDVRFox 31 reported that Kim, originally from South Korea, leaves behind a wife and child.
Hancock was interviewed by police but declined to talk about the incident without a lawyer present, the arrest affidavit said.
Neither Hancock nor Kim have previous arrests or conviction in the state of Colorado, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation website.
Meanwhile, crowdfunding site GoFundMe closed a fundraising page started by his family for Hancock's legal bills. The site had raised $11,000 of its $50,000 goal when it was disabled and donations were returned.
GoFundMe Spokesperson Kate Cichy confirmed Tuesday that the campaign was removed from the platform, for "violating GoFundMe's terms of service." She did not clarify which rule the campaign broke.
