Denver Protests Against Death Of George Floyd: Photos
For more than a week, thousands of people have gathered every day in Denver to call for justice in the aftermath of George Floyd's death.
DENVER, CO — While some protests in Denver have become violent amid clashes with police in the aftermath of George Floyd's death, thousands of protesters have legally and peacefully exercised their right to free speech.
The coronavirus continues to spread in Colorado, but some protesters — those over 65 and/or with underlying health issues — have been risking their lives to participate in the marches and rallies.
For more than a week, protesters have held dozens of sit-ins — lying on their stomachs or getting down on one knee and holding 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence — the same amount of time that a police officer, Derek Chauvin, knelt on Floyd's neck. Floyd died in police custody in Minneapolis May 25.
