Denver Zoo Closes Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Only staff will remain at the Denver Zoo, officials said.

DENVER — The Denver Zoo is closed to the public until further notice, but the zoo's operations staff will continue to provide care for the animals, officials said. The zoo announced the decision after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued guidance Sunday that recommended gatherings of more than 50 people should be limited over the next eight weeks.

The Denver Zoo will "assess the situation" and reopen "at the appropriate time," officials said.

The zoo's dedicated caretakers, nutrition specialists and veterinarians will continue to provide professional care and welfare for all 3,000 animals.
