From 5 to 9 p.m., electricity will cost roughly triple the off‑peak rate, though residents can cut bills by shifting heavy‑use appliances and EV charging to cheaper hours and noting weekends and major holidays remain off‑peak.

Fort Collins apartment fire claims life of person, cat (coloradoan.com) — A deadly apartment fire on Cunningham Drive in Fort Collins on Sept. 29 claimed the life of a resident and their cat, despite firefighters' efforts to resuscitate the victim. Poudre Fire Authority evacuated the eight-unit building after an initial smoke investigation call revealed an active blaze in a nearby unit, and the Larimer County Coroner's Office is notifying family members.

4. CSU unveils larger veterinary teaching hospital (bizwest.com) — Colorado State University is opening its new $230 million Veterinary Hospital and Educational Complex on the south campus in Fort Collins, bringing expanded pet care and teaching services much closer to local residents. The 213,000‑square‑foot facility will boost student enrollment, add dozens of exam rooms, and handle tens of thousands of animal patients and diagnostic tests each year, supported by more than 700 veterinary staff.

Black Hollow Sun Now Powers Northern Colorado (northfortynews.com) — Electric customers in Fort Collins are now partly powered by Black Hollow Sun, Northern Colorado's largest solar complex, which serves Platte River's four owner communities. The Weld County project adds 257 megawatts of solar capacity, enough to power tens of thousands of homes and businesses, and is central to the region's transition toward more renewable, locally governed electricity.
