Sky FCU, On Tap CU Say They Have a Merger Plan Brewing (thecudaily.com) — From its base in Golden, On Tap Credit Union plans to merge with Montana's Sky Federal Credit Union, creating a combined institution with about $671 million in assets and eight branches across two states. Leaders say no branch closures are expected, and they promise more investment in digital banking, security, and community programs that will affect members in Jefferson and nearby counties.
   

3. Federal jury convicts man who threatened Rochester judges (syracuse.com) — A Golden resident has been convicted in federal court of threatening to murder two Rochester, New York, judges after his civil case was dismissed. While the crime and trial occurred out of state, the case involves someone currently living in Golden and carries a potential 10-year prison sentence, with sentencing set for February.
   

4. Man completes 2,000-ish mile loop around Colorado in 141 days (denvergazette.com) — A 29-year-old who now calls Golden home has just completed a 2,000‑mile "Great Colorado Route" loop in 141 days, hitting national parks, dozens of peaks, and remote wilderness. His ambitious route, designed for section hikers as well as thru‑hikers, offers Golden outdoor enthusiasts a new way to explore Colorado beyond the well‑known Colorado Trail.
   

5. Loveland Ski Area is ready to make snow for the season. Now it just needs Mother Nature to cooperate. (cpr.org) — Loveland Ski Area is gearing up to start snowmaking as soon as temperatures and humidity cooperate, aiming for a possible late-October opening. For Golden residents, the story highlights that Loveland leases storage space in Guanella Reservoir from the City of Golden, tying local water management directly to one of Colorado's earliest-opening ski hills.
