1. St. Mary's purchases new cancer-care tech (thebusinesstimes.com) — Cancer patients in Grand Junction now have access to more precise, comfortable radiation treatment thanks to more than $2 million in new technology at St. Mary's Cancer Centers of Colorado. A new CT simulator, upgraded surface-guided radiation tools, and a highly adjustable treatment couch help doctors better target tumors while sparing healthy tissue. The improvements especially benefit patients with head, neck, brain, and lung cancers.
   

2. Scooter Rider Killed in Suspected Hit-and-Run (junctionnow.com) — Grand Junction police are investigating a suspected hit-and-run that killed a woman riding a scooter early Monday near Westland Avenue and D Road. First responders rushed her to a local hospital, but she later died from her injuries, and authorities say the case remains an active, ongoing investigation.
   

3. Western Colorado Latino Chamber kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month (kkco11news.com) — Grand Junction's Western Colorado Latino Chamber of Commerce has launched Hispanic Heritage Month with a lively kickoff at the Art Center and a full calendar of events through Oct. 15. Two District 51 dual language teachers at Dual Immersion Academy received the Hispanic Advancement Award for helping local students learn in both English and Spanish while deepening cultural understanding.
   

4. Grand Junction River Hawks set to begin new season in a new League (kkco11news.com) — Grand Junction's River Hawks are about to launch their first season in the high-profile North American Hockey League, with home games at River City Sportsplex starting Friday, Sept. 18. After a breakout inaugural year and a division title, players say they're aiming for a championship and counting on loud local crowds. Fans can expect faster, higher-level hockey on the Western Slope this fall.
   

5. SPARK Summit returns with focus on leadership, AI, business growth (thebusinesstimes.com) — Business owners in Grand Junction can attend the SPARK Summit at Colorado Mesa University on Sept. 23, featuring sessions on leadership, artificial intelligence, and executive finance. With nine speakers and multiple keynotes and master classes, the one-day conference offers local access to high-level training without traveling to the Front Range or out of state.
