Colorado Teacher Died In Horrific Crash; Community Raises $29K
Charter school teacher Sancy Shaw was killed in a Christmas Eve wreck near Genesee. More than $29,000 has been raised for the family.

CLARK, CO — More than $29,000 has been raised for the family of a beloved Colorado teacher who was one of two people killed in what state troopers called a "horrific" Christmas Eve car crash. Sancy Shaw and her daughter were driving on Interstate 70 on Monday near Genesee when their vehicle collided with another.
An eastbound vehicle drifted too far out of its lane and then apparently over-corrected. The vehicle went through a median, spun out and smashed into another vehicle. Investigators suspected alcohol and marijuana played a role in the crash.
Friends and family identified one of the two adults killed in the crash as Sancy Shaw, 38, of Clark. Shaw was a teacher at North Routt Community Charter School in Clark, according to the school's website. She taught science and English to 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

A GoFundMe account created to raise money for the family raised more than $29,000 over just 20 hours. A post on the website said the family had suffered a "terrible loss" on the night of Christmas Eve night.
"Tragically, Sancy Shaw, was involved in a car accident and didn't make it," the post said. "Her daughter, Charlee, was in the car and miraculously survived. She is in critical condition, but alive."

The account seeks to raise $100,000 and the poster asked the community for "fervent prayers" for the child's full recovery.
"Sancy is mother to Wyatt, Mason, Jaxon and husband to Brett," the post said. "Sancy was truly a light wherever she went and words cannot be found to express how much we will miss her. Our hearts are shattered."
Shaw was born in Wyoming but grew up in Colorado, according to the school's website. She attended the University of Wyoming on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a degree in secondary education with concentration in biology.
