Lakewood Walmart Shooting Suspect Facing Additional Charges

LAKEWOOD, CO — A 21-year-old man who last month was charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a shooting at Walmart in Lakewood is now facing an attempted murder charge and several violent crime counts. Kile Joshua Chaca was arrested last month for shooting a man in the store parking lot.

Officers were called to the store at 440 Wadsworth Blvd. just after 9:30 p.m. Aug. 25, police said. Upon their arrival, they found a man in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Lakewood police said they believe the man was shot during an argument over a parking spot.

Chaca left the parking lot after the shooting, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. An investigation led police to Chaca, who was arrested Aug. 28.

Charges were filed Sept. 5. Chaca’s preliminary hearing has been set for Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. He is being held at the Jefferson County jail on $500,000 bond.
