Human Remains Found In Lakewood Car Trunk: JeffCo Sheriff
JeffCo authorities aren't talking much yet about the human remains found in a car trunk, but the case is considered a homicide, they say.

LAKEWOOD, CO – The human remains found Thursday night in the trunk of a car parked in Lakewood are now part of a homicide case, a Jefferson County Sheriff's spokesman said.
A tipster called 911, complaining about a strong odor coming from a vehicle parked on a frontage road across the street from the Whisper Creek apartments in the 3500 block of South Nelson Circle, Mark Techmeyer from the sheriff's office said.
Sheriff's deputies "came out and also smelled it, and recognized the potential [of decaying human remains] so we were able to get a search warrant and popped the trunk," said Techmeyer. Investigators know the owner of the car, and said it was not parked in the spot for long, Techmeyer said.

However, the body was "seriously" decomposed, and investigators will have to use DNA or dental records to identify the person, Techmeyer said. He said investigators did not know if it was a man or a woman, or the age of the person. He declined to say if the body was clothed or if it was in any kind of container, saying the investigation was still ongoing.
