Fresh paint, new flooring, upgraded gym, library tech, and science wing roofing modernize the 67-year-old campus, while district leaders say the improvements support South's shift toward an Advanced Placement and Fine Arts focus.

• Adams State names educator Brian Domina Outstanding Alumnus (adams.edu) — A longtime Central High School teacher in Pueblo has been named Adams State University's 2026 Outstanding Alumnus, honoring decades of work with local students. Brian Domina, twice recognized as Pueblo City Schools Teacher of the Year, has taught and coached multiple subjects and sports, mentored future educators, and helped lead academic support programs that benefit Pueblo families.

• Mission Foods closing Pueblo production facility (kdvr.com) — Mission Foods is shutting down its Pueblo manufacturing plant, ending operations Aug. 14 and fully closing the facility Oct. 13, affecting about 90 employees. The company says workers will receive pay and benefits through closure, while union leaders blame chronic underinvestment and warn the decision will hurt the broader Pueblo community.
