CPW has killed another bear in Steamboat Springs after the homeowner shot it first (steamboatradio.com) — A bear that entered a Steamboat Springs home was shot by the homeowner in self-defense and later killed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers, marking at least the 14th bear death in Routt County this year. Officials urge residents to lock doors, windows, vehicles, and secure all food sources as drought and scarce natural food continue to drive record bear conflicts locally.

Steamboat Springs School District data technician receives 2026 Summit Award (steamboatpilot.com) — A Steamboat Springs School District data technician has earned a statewide Summit Award for creating a Medicaid billing system that's expected to bring in about $180,000 a year for local schools.
