4 Killed In CT Crash On Memorial Day: State Police

CONNECTICUT — During the 2022 Memorial Day weekend, there were several accidents on the roads and water that claimed the lives of more than 10 people.

On Tuesday morning, state police said four people from Rhode Island were killed in a car crash in Thompson, located in Windham County. The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Memorial Day.

Johan Santana, 18, of Providence, RI, was driving a 2017 Honda Civic southbound on Quaddick Town Farm Road when he tried to "overtake a vehicle, also traveling southbound. Operator #1 lost control of his vehicle, ran off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree," state police said in a news release.

Four of the five people inside the car were killed, and the fifth person sustained serious injuries, state police said.

Those killed in the crash include: Santana, Jaslin Perez, 21, Erika Perez, 21, Lixandra Terrero Almonte, 21. All four killed were from Providence, RI.

State police are investigating the accident.
