CT Casts 7 Electoral Votes For Biden

Connecticut's Electoral College members met Monday to cast their votes in favor of President-elect Joe Biden.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut cast its seven electoral college votes for President-elect Joe Biden Monday.

"During the historic 2020 presidential election, we saw record participation from voters across our state and country despite the challenges of a global pandemic," Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement. "While today’s meeting is a symbolic moment in our democratic process, it will ensure that the voice of our voters is heard and assist in the peaceful transfer of power."

Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris received more than 1 million votes in Connecticut. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence received around 715,000. Voter turnout was nearly 80 percent.

Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz also said she was pleased with Connecticut's record-breaking voter participation in the November election.

"This vote continues a rich tradition in our democratic process — ensuring that those who are serving in our nation’s highest office are elected by the people for the people," she said in a statement.
