Officials said the victim was ejected while attempting a "donut" maneuver.

A Connecticut man was seriously injured Monday in a snowmobile accident in New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said the accident happened around 11:53 a.m. in Colebrook, which is in northern New Hampshire.

Officials identified the victim as a 62-year-old Bethlehem resident.

The man was operating in an area with a network of snowmobile trails at the time.

Officials said the man was attempting to rapidly accelerate while making a lefthand turn, also known as a “donut,” on his rented snowmobile when he was ejected.

The victim landed on the hard, icy, snow-packed ground, department officials said. A member of the man’s riding party called 911, and emergency personnel rushed the man to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.

The snowmobile was not damaged during the accident, which remains under investigation.

“Conservation Officers believe there were multiple factors present, such as operating off the designated trail and operating to endanger a person,” the department said, in an announcement.

Department officials urged snowmobile operators to always ride “in a controlled manner” to avoid a collision or injuries.
