Picture Connecticut: You're Bugging Me Man
The latest stop on the Patch Picture Connecticut Tour.

ELLINGTON, CT —This week, we've had a swarm of dragonflies at a New England beach and naughty mosquitoes testing for a bad disease on the Connecticut River.
On one station this week, there was a re-run of the famed comedy "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and the maniacal scene in which the wayward lifeguard Sylvester Marcus tells J. Russell Finch, his uptight edible seaweed merchant brother-in-law, "You're Bugging Me Man."
So, keeping with the insect theme, why not a big bug on a mailbox?

That is the Picture Connecticut image this week.
For many years the bug mailbox has been causing passersby to do double-takes along the 200 block of Pinney Street in Ellington near the Somers line. The metal sculpture hugs the roadway and simply cannot be missed. It's both popular and iconic in local circles.

It has undergone some refurbishments over time, but there it has been no matter what the weather is or what time of year it is.
