Ancient Native American Artifacts Discovered In Avon

An investigation of a road construction project has led to a major archaeological find.

AVON, CT — An early Native American site has been discovered during an archaeological investigation in Avon, according to FOX 61. The discovery was made by the DOT during planning for reconstruction of the Old Farms Road Bridge near Route 10.

More than 15,000 artifacts have been discovered at the site, many of which are roughly 12,500 years old. Part of the site will be preserved for additional archaeological investigation, according to FOX 61.
