Avon Citizen's Police Academy Coming Up
The academy is scheduled to begin next month.

AVON, CT — The Avon Police Department is offering a Citizens' Police Academy for residents who want to learn more about local law enforcement. The Academy will begin on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 and run for nine weeks to June 17, 2020. All classes will be on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.nm to 9:00 p.m. and take place at the Avon Police Dept., 60 West Main st., Bldg. 3, Avon, CT.
Those attending will learn about many aspects of the Avon Police Department, including Crime Scene Investigation, DWI Enforcement, the Community Policing Programs and the Detective Division. In addition, participants will find out more about the many regional programs the Department pafticipates in, including the Accident Reconstruction and Emergency Services Teams.

Class size is limited, and only those residents or business owners in Avon, 18 years of age or older (must be out of high school) can enroll. Participants must complete an application and pass a criminal background check.
Applications must be submitted by no later than April 3, 2020. Applications can be found on-line at avonct.gov/police-department or at the Avon Police Dept. (lobby)
