This year the party has assembled an extremely strong slate of eleven candidates consisting of both seasoned incumbents and accomplished members of the community who are passionate about defining Avon's future, maintaining the strength of Avon's schools and making Avon a thought leader among Connecticut communities.
The candidates listened to concerns of residents at a variety of public events this year including an "Avon Matters" forum sponsored by the Avon Democrats at the library, Avon Day and the recent Meet the Candidates event at Roaring Brook High School.
The Avon Democrats view the upcoming election as critical to Avon's future and to engaging both Democratic and Independent voters. The candidates are committed to bringing dynamic two-party rule to reflect the concerns and goals of all residents.
The candidates are:
Town Council - David Pena and Ben Colman
Board of Finance - Tom Gugliotti, Laura Young and Doug York
Board of Education - Jay Spivak and Joanne Beers
Board of Assessment Appeals - Tim Owens and Bryan Short
Zoning Board of Appeals - Daryl Worobow and Mike Oleyer
