9/13/2013, Friday The 13th.
I called it "Suffield Massacre". The score was 5:0.
It became the most goal differential defeat by the NCCC rival, Suffield since the Homecoming night game in 2010.
Ally Pasquariello, Sr. that time(currently playing for Holy Cross, NCAA Div I) and Alexa Keney, So.(currently playing for UConn, NCAA Div I) led suffield team to win 4:1 over Avon. A few Seniors in Avon team experienced that nightmare when they were freshmen. This time, Brittany Champagne, Sr. FW who committed to Dartmouth College(NCAA DI) became the "Jason" on the Friday the 13th. It was just a total disaster in every aspect while playing and had deep scar in their recent success. However, Girls easily overcame their mental & physical damage and made glorious comeback against Ellington, another tough foe in NCCC every year. They had comfortable lead 2:0 after first half, goals by Sr. Alexa Lisevick and Erin Heston. Even though they allowed a goal by long distance freekick which was beautifully taken by Ellington player, that was it for the day. They now passed two tough teams, Granby & Ellington and failed one mission against Suffield. Avon will have a chance to retaliate at their Homecoming & Senior night in October. I would like to see tweak on the formation from 3 backs with 1 stopper to flat 4 backs with 2 holding midfielders in front 4 backs which is 4-2-3-1, if possible... Let's hope that Girls can celebrate their Homecoming night on Oct 25th.
