Avon Library To Host Summer Book Buddies Virtual Session On Thursday

Elementary kids will practicing their reading skills on teen volunteers.

What is Book Buddies? Elementary kids, ie Little Buddies, practicing their reading skills on teen volunteers, ie Big Buddies.

Little Buddies get to grow a love of reading, practice their skills, and connect with cool big teen buddies.

Teens will have books to read; children can bring their own books to read.

The Avon Library will be running 3 Book Buddies meetings this summer:

Thursday July 9th, 16th, and 23rd.

Sign up separately for each week. You can sign up for 1, 2, or all 3!

Choose your reading time:

4-4:30 PM OR 4:30-5 PM

Great! Who can sign up?

*UPDATE: now for kids entering Grades: K, 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Do you have siblings? Great! Each one can be signed up for their own time slots, 4-4:30 and 4:30-5 PM.

How will this program be held?

This program will be held in a Zoom meeting. An adult should be nearby during the child’s reading session.

Children need a device (computer or laptop, iphone, Android phone, etc.) with Zoom downloaded and a camera or webcam. **Chromebooks from Avon Schools do not allow Zoom to be used on their device.**

Who are the Big Buddies?

Big Buddies will be teen volunteers entering Grades 7-12.

We’re out of books!

If you need books, place a Curbside Pickup order! Either places holds on the items you want from your home computer OR call (860) 673 9712, ext 240 to ask the Children’s Department staff to pull items to put on hold for you to then pickup from our Curbside service.
