Independent filmmaker John Sayles is at his best directing this murder mystery set in a small Texas border town.Watch as Sayles uses the mystery to explore racial stereotypes, cultural differences and small town prejudices in this little known gem.

In the Bedroom, 2001, Available from the library, and on Amazon Prime
Based on a novel by Andre Dubos, this family drama, in the words of Roger Ebert, “Involves love and violence, and even some thriller elements, but it is not about those things. It is about two people so trapped in opposition that one of them must break.” Superb performances by Sissy Spacek and Tom Wilkinson makes this one of the best films of 2001.
