Avon Transfer Station Accepts Yard Waste For Free August 15

The Town's Transfer Station (281 Huckleberry Hill Road) will continue to accept yard waste from both permit holders and non-permit holders.

The Town’s Transfer Station (281 Huckleberry Hill Road) will continue to accept yard waste from both permit holders and non-permit holders, free of charge, through Saturday, August 15th. Residential use only. Proof of residency is required if not a permit holder. Commercial waste and commercial vehicles will not be accepted. Food waste will not be accepted from non-permit holders. Please deposit food waste in your regular refuse collection. Residents who wish to compost food waste/spoiled food may call Blue Earth Compost at (860) 266-7346 or visit www.blueearthcompost.com. Fees will apply. TRANSFER STATION UPDATE FOR PERMIT HOLDERS:At this time, power has been restored to the Transfer Station and we are once again able to accept household waste and recyclables from permit holders. In order to assist permit holders who were unable to dispose of their waste and recyclables during recent normal Transfer Station hours, we will be happy to accept household waste and recyclables from permit holders only according to the following extended schedule: Tuesday, 8/11 – 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (normal operating schedule)Wednesday, 8/12 - 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Thursday, 8/13 - 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Friday, 8/14 - 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (normal operating schedule)Saturday, 8/15 – 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (please note extended Saturday hours) Please contact the Department of Public Works at (860) 673-6151 with any questions.
