Community Update

Dear Jessie,

It is a
pleasure to write a letter of support for the re-election of Jay Spivak for
Avon Board of Education. Jay, a 15 year resident of Avon, grew up in the
Farmington Valley and attended public schools. 
He and his wife, Julie, have three children who attend Avon schools. Jay
recognizes the value and importance of a strong public education.

During Jay’s
first term on the BOE, he worked to provide the entire community with better
communication and transparency. Specifically, Jay worked diligently as a member
of the Finance Committee to provide efficiency in the use of our tax dollars.
In addition, Jay is chair of the newly formed Alternative Resources Committee
where he works with administrators to research alternative revenue sources to
support excellence in our schools.  We
are confident that with Jay’s unwavering commitment, Avon will benefit from
more prudent, transparent fiscal management of our resources.

We support Jay because he
believes that
people are at the core of good
education. We
know Jay will continue to work with Avon’s engaged parents who are the first
educators, Avon’s effective teachers who motivate and help students at various
skill levels, and Avon’s capable principals, superintendents and board of
education members to create a powerful culture.

In this
election, party affiliation should not be important but rather doing what is
right for the students of Avon. As a household with both a Republican and
Democrat, we plan to VOTE for Jay Spivak on Tuesday, November 5th!  We hope you will join us.
