Talcott Mountain Academy is proud to announce that we have 3 winners in our school level National Geographic Geography Bee, which took place January 14th. The school level bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 26th annual National Geographic Bee. This year’s Bee is sponsored by Google. Our first place winner was Ryan Gorneault in grade eight. The second place winner was Nathaniel Welsh in grade five and third place went to Julia Hoffman in grade six. As the first place winner, Ryan will now take a written test which will decide if he will be able to go on to compete at the state Level. Winners of the state level will be provided with an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. for the National Championship, moderated by Soledad O’Brien, the award winning journalist, on May 21st.
We wish Ryan luck and hope to see him at the State Competition on April 4th!
