Bethel Voters Approve Town, Capital Budgets

It was the second time in two month those budgets went to referendum.

BETHEL, CT — Voters approved the 2018-19 spending plans for the town and capital expenditures on Thursday. It was the second time those budgets went to referendum. Both were rejected last month, just as the education budget was passed.

The $29.5 million town had just $300,000 shaved off, when compared to the original $29.8 million budget that was rejected in April. It passed narrowly, by a vote of 1,168 to 1,051.

The capital budget took a deeper cut, from the original $2.3 million to the newly approved $1.1 million capital spending plan. It passed by a healthier 1,295 to 871.
