Bethany Emergency Management Announces - New CERT Basic Training Class

The Bethany Office of Emergency Management will be offering a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) basic training class scheduled to begin in February for Bethany residents.

The class will meet once a week for 14 weeks, includes training in emergency sheltering, search and rescue, first aid and CPR and much more.

Graduates will be invited to join Bethany’s active CERT program as volunteers. Bethany CERT is an active group, tasked with many responsibilities under Emergency Management and FEMA guidelines.

Funding for the class will come from a grant awarded by the State’s Citizen’s Corps Advisory Committee.

An informational and orientation session will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the Bethany Town Hall, Senior Room.

Applications can be obtained at the Town Clerk’s office, Emergency Management/Fire Marshall’s office at Town Hall or by calling CERT Coordinator Clark Hurlburt at (203) 444-4469.
