Bethany May Stay in the Dark Until End of Week - Will School Start Before the Weekend?
Power is at a premium while town waits for crews to arrive from around the country.

While United Illuninating crews can be seen working on the power lines in various sections of Woodbridge, there has been little progress in Bethany, which is currently 100 percent without power. According to Public Works Director Al Green, there were so many emergency situations during the storm with basements flooding, lines down and electrical panels submerged that there was no choice but to have CL&P cut power to the entire town.
First Selectman Derrylyn Gorski said the liason from CL&P had arrived early this afternoon to help prioritize where the crews will start, however, looking at the map of Bethany with dozens of pins marking where lines are down was overwhelming.
"We have to go the grid in terms of the way everything is set up," Gorski said.

Even then, there are still no crews assigned to the town. According to Groski, many of them are driving in with their equipment trucks from out of state. Those coming up from Florida are driving through hurricane affected areas which may cause delays.
"Do not expect any power before the end of the week," Gorski said. "People will have to plan on dealing with this for that long."

The Bethany Community School is another situation. Gorski said the school is, of course, a priority, but as of this afternoon she still had no answers.
"it will depend of which trees are down and how quickly we can get the wires back up," she said.
