The Registrars of Voters will hold a post-election audit for the August 14, 2012 primary elections on
Wednesday, September 12, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in Town Hall, 40 Peck Road, Bethany 06524, the Commission Room (upstairs).
Bethany was one of 53 voting districts selected at random by the Secretary of the State's office. http://www.sots.ct.gov/sots/lib/sots/releases/2012/8.30.12_merrill_selec...
"The primary purpose of the hand count audit is to assess how well the optical scan voting machines functioned in an actual election and to ensure that votes cast using these machines are counted properly and accurately." (Audit Procedure Manual from the Secretary of the State's office)
This is the first time Bethany has been chosen for such an audit. Post-election audits are open to the public, as are the pre-election tests of the voting machines, lotteries to determine placement on the ballot for offices with multiple seats (e.g., Zoning Board of Appeals), and other voting-related matters.
