Former Political Candidate Arrested for Harassment in Woodbridge

Former gubernatorial, U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives candidate Lee Whitnum-Baker was arrested for harassment in Woodbridge.

Woodbridge Police arrested a former political candidate who ran for governor, U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.

Police served Lisa Whitnum-Baker, 55, of Greenwich with an outstanding warrant on August 11. She was charged with two counts each of second-degree harassment and criminal violation of a protective order.

Her arrest stems from an investigation into two separate incidents in which she allegedly made contact with a town resident in violation of a court issued protective order, according to police.

She was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Whitnum-Baker has a pending case for harassment that is scheduled for a jury trial, according to online court records. She also has pending jury trial for trespassing out of Darien and a separate harassment case out of Darien. She has pleaded not guilty in those cases.

She gained notoriety in 2012 after calling then-U.S. Senate candidate Chris Murphy a whore for supporting Israel during a televised debate.
