Free Sunday Preschool Program at Congregation B'nai Jacob

The free program begins next month.

Congregation B’nai Jacob of Woodbridge is proud to announce the kick off a brand new program aimed to serve our littlest congregants. To be held on Sundays, this is a free preschool program for 3 & 4 year olds. No membership at B’nai Jacob is required.

Gan Hayeled Sundays will be kicking off on November 1st and will run every Sunday that religious school is in session, from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. It will be for three- and four-year olds and will be a “drop off” experience. There is no charge to anyone for this program. It is being offered as a way to reach out to the community and introduce the Gan Hayeled experience to more families.

Irma Rapaport will be the head teacher for Gan Hayeled Sundays. Irma is a long-time B’nai Jacob member. As a Gan Hayeled nursery school parent years ago, Irma was involved in the classroom (she even wrote a Gan Hayeled song for the kids!) and since then has taught a synagogue music program and “art on a cart” in the public school system. Irma’s energy and ideas will add much warmth to the new program.

In addition to Irma’s leadership, the children will enjoy special sessions with Rabbi Shapiro and Cantor Kanfer - what a great opportunity for our preschoolers to start their introduction to Judaic education. There will also be madrichim in the classroom (the congregation’s teen leaders) as well as adult volunteers to ensure a safe and happy environment.

The curriculum will be a play-based Judaic program, taking advantage of our long history of providing a warm, caring environment in which children can develop social skills while also learning about Jewish holidays, traditions and values. Gan Hayeled has a top notch playground right outside the classroom and the class will be able to take advantage of that space for this program.
