New Bethany Financial Planners Look to Future
The new committee is tasked with creating a financial plan that can work for the town for the next five years.

Bethany will be looking to the future with a new Long Term Financial Planning Committee to take a long-range view to town issues – and they want your help. The fledgling group, which just started meeting, was appointed by the Board of Selectmen.
Their mission is to develop a five-year financial plan which can be considered by the Boards of Selectmen, Board of Finance and Education School Department. The plan will incorporate demographic changes, economic trends, state and local funding projections, financing requirements, revenue trends and town educational needs and trends. Recreational needs and other factors will also be considered.
“It is important that the LTFPC get a large amount of public input into the planning process as this activity will affect all residents and property owners in Bethany,” said Steve Squinto, chairman of the committee, in a statement.

“We hope to get a high level of response to the questionnaire,” said Squinto. "We will be determining just how to best distribute the questionnaire in the very near future so as to get maximum public input. After all, this affects all residents.”
The five-member committee is composed of two members of the Board of Finance Committee, John Grabowski and Chip Spear and three members- at-large., Sharon Huxley, Steve Squinto and Jamie Stirling. First Selectman Derrylyn Gorski participates as an ex officio member.
