Today is Veteran's Day, 11-11-11: Remember Those Who Fought for your Freedom

Veteran's Day Ceremonies are this morning for Woodbridge and Bethany.

Today is November 11, 2011, aka 11-11-11, which promises to be an especially symbolic day for commemorating our nation's veterans. Veteran's Day takes place on Armistice Day and its roots are tied to the ending of World War I. According to Wikipedia:

Armistice Day (also known as Remembrance Day) is on 11 November and commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning—the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918.

The number 11 is of particular significance, and today will be the only time you can join with other Americans to honor our veterans on 11-11-11 at 11:11 a.m. since most Veteran's Day Celebrations begin at or around the time of the signing of the armistice agreement.
