Woodbridge Animal Likely Bobcat, Not Mountain Lion: Report
State officials are saying that a wildcat spotted in Woodbridge is likely a bobcat, not a mountain lion.
WOODBRIDGE, CT — The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has said a cat spotted in Woodbridge is likely a bobcat, not a mountain lion, according to WTNH News-8. Residents reported seeing a mountain lion to police on Salem Road and Pease Road.
One family said they encountered the cat in their yard.
However, the DEEP said that Connecticut doesn't have a mountain lion population and it's extremely rare for them to be wandering in the state. They said residents often mistake bobcats for mountain lions due to how the bobcat walks, which makes its tail look longer than it is.
