Woodbridge residents will be able to upgrade their old incandescent lightbulbs to more energy-efficient LEDs at a Woodbridge Energy Challenge event on Saturday, November 7th. Residents can receive two free LED bulbs per household, as supplies last.
The Lightbulb Exchange will be held at the Senior Center (4 Meetinghouse Lane) from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.. This event will coincide with the Senior Center’s Annual Holiday Fair. The Lightbulb Exchange is part of the Woodbridge Energy Challenge organized by the Woodbridge Ad Hoc Energy Advisory Task Force.
“I am proud that the Town can offer two great community events at once,” said First Selectman Ellen Scalettar. “The Senior Center always does a great job with the holiday fair, and the Task Force has been so successful with its programs. I encourage everyone to attend these events.”

As part of the Woodbridge Energy Challenge, the Task Force has brought the CT Solar Challenge to Woodbridge as well as a program promoting home energy improvements for residents. The Town has earned points for these activities which led to a $5,000 Bright Ideas Grant from United Illuminating and the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund. The Task Force is using the grant to purchase 75-watt equivalent LEDs to distribute to residents.
“We’re thrilled that the Town is able to offer free LEDs to help residents continue to save energy at home,” said Task Force Chair Lisa Connor.
