Bridgeport Mayor's Dog Bite Lawsuit Vs. Delta Air Lines Goes To Trial
Mayor Joseph Ganim claims he was bitten by an emotional support dog while on a flight in November 2018.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim is suing Delta Air Lines over a dog bite he sustained while on a flight in November 2018, and a court this week reportedly moved the case to trial.
The trial is scheduled to begin on Oct. 31, according to the Connecticut Post. Ganim reportedly offered to settle the case for just under $75,000, but the airline refused. He claims he suffered "scarring and disfigurement," and both mental and physical pain and suffering, as a result of the bite.
In the lawsuit, Ganim claims he was seated on Flight 1841 when he was bitten by the dog as it was being boarded. He claims the attack was unprovoked, and he "was not committing a tort, nor teasing, tormenting or abusing the dog."

Ganim, who is represented by his brother, George Ganim Jr., claims Delta "is legally responsible for the incident in that it was negligent and careless in failing to safeguard the Plaintiff from unwarranted harm by allowing a dog, neither crated nor muzzled, to walk freely on and within the cabin of the plane."
In a court response, Delta claims Ganim acted carelessly and negligently.
